Beacon Barn offers Individual and Family Psychotherapy for children as young as 3 years old, adolescents and adults. Some of the issues that can be addressed during therapy are depression, anxiety, separation/divorce, attachment issues in children, foster care/adoption, self-esteem issues, behavioral problems, trauma, and grief. Sessions are 30-60 minutes depending on age and individual. Sessions are scheduled by appointment only.
Interacting with the animals during therapy is optional. Many clients, especially children, choose to have their sessions downstairs in the barn in order to interact with the sheep, pigs and horses during their session. Purple is mostly involved in every session. However, all animal interaction is depending on each individual clients preference. The animals are meant to add to the therapeutic experience by providing a friendly and unique supportive presence and at times a healthy distraction while discussing difficult issues.
Please note that Beacon Barn now has 2 other office spaces under its roof, where Sarah Long MSW, LICSW of Creative Connections and Sheena Nicholson MSW, LICSW of Fresh Perspectives can be found. Please let me know if you would like more information about their services.
